Australian thriller that inspired Death Proof in North America
It was a cool press release to see popping up in our inbox: Dark Star Pictures brings 1986 thriller Ozploitation fair game on North American screens this month! The film will be in theaters in LA from July 8e, and which will be followed by a digital output on July 12e. A physical release is scheduled for August.
Said to be an inspiration to Quentin Tarantino Crusher film Death proof, fair game is “a wild revenge thriller” set in the Outback. Cassandra Delaney (One night stand) plays the role of a wildlife sanctuary leader who confronts
three psychopathic kangaroo hunters. Bored of killing kangaroos, they decide to kill the animals in the sanctuary, and when they see how attractive the owner is, they decide to have a little fun with her too. It turns out they may be having a little more “fun” than they bargained for.
Delaney is joined in the cast by Peter Ford (Gallipoli), David Sandford (The Cowra Escape), Garry Who (Dead end Drive-in), Don Barker (Anti-rabbit mesh), Carmel Young (Fever), Adrian Shirley (The keeper of time), and Wayne Anthony (Gunsmoke: One Man’s Justice).
fair game was directed by Mario Andreacchio (Paradise found) based on a scenario of The Battle of Jericho writer/director Rob George.
I don’t know if I had heard of it fair game before this release announcement, but judging by the trailer at the top of this article – which comes courtesy of our friends at Bloody Disgusting – and the NSFW one at the bottom of this article, the movie looks awesome to me. I will definitely check it out this month.
