CARNIVAL OF ANIMALS BY CIRCA, HOUSE OF OZ AT KINGS HALL, House Of Oz At Kings Hall

Circa’s demigods are back and daring at the Edinburgh Fringe, creating their special blend of acrobatic magic. Their performance is an ode to land and sea animals.

Prepare to be captivated from the second the play begins. We see the acrobats dressed in monochrome, sleek and distinct, on a mission to make sure no move is wasted. Each gesture is divine and leaves us in awe of the talent of the super troop. We see the most spectacular incarnation of zebra, elephant, gorilla, crocodile, frog, rabbit and our personal favorite – a vivid crab of spectacular expressiveness.

Every flip, somersault, jump and juggle is masterful. The background graphics add to the nautical atmosphere, as the excellent seven merge their movement to create a beautiful school of fish, and what follows is a standout moment of a jaw-dropping centipede.

We are further treated to the hoop and a dose of stunning red silk aerial work, followed by the seemingly impossible task of juggling three rectangular blocks. A fun round begins where the group falls bare-handed with paper, then we see the club juggle over each other.

There’s nothing they can’t do: Circa is sublime. It is an epic spectacle, with the addition of public participation via a game of giant balloons. Take a ticket, it’s really beautiful.

Carnival of the Animals by CircaHouse of Oz at Kings Hall will take place on August 7-9, 11-14, 16-21, 24-28, 2022.
