Downtown Holiday Open House Nov 19 | News, Sports, Jobs


ALPENA – The Downtown Development Authority and participating businesses are hosting an open house on Saturday, November 19.

Participants will have the chance to win a gift basket prepared by the DDA with items donated by the companies.

To enter and win, shoppers will need to make a purchase at one of the participating businesses and will then receive a ticket to fill out and drop off at Santa’s mailbox at Culligan Plaza in downtown Alpena. The winner of the gift basket will be announced the following Monday on Downtown Alpena’s social media accounts.

This event will run throughout the day on Saturday, and the hours for each individual business depend on the business owner. Each participating business will be decked out in the holiday spirit and will offer special offers and promotions to kick off the holiday shopping season.

Participating businesses include Prattscapes, The Rabbit Hole, Rusty Petunias Marketplace, Glik’s, Thunder Bay Arts Council & Gallery, Cochon Gourmet Market, The Bluebird Boutique, Traveling Ladders, Yarns To Go & Fabrics, Parallel 45 Books & Gifts, Colburn Outfitters, Emery Enterprises, Olivet Book & Gift, Thunder Bay Winery, My Glass Wings, Regalo Gifts, Bolenz Jewelry, PIF Cider, and United Way of Northeast Michigan.

The DDA is thrilled to be able to organize this event to include the community in the holiday cheer that surrounds our downtown.

“It will be a very fun event for parents and children, as there should be something for everyone to enjoy and participate in throughout the day,” said Kady Gehrke, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator. of the DDA. “We hope to see a lot of people in downtown Alpena for this event.”
