Yes, I am 52 years old. And yes, I’m still excited about it! General Mills has announced that they are bringing back their Cereal Squad collectible toy characters in specially marked cereal boxes.
I don’t eat a lot of sugary cereal and I’m not really familiar with Cereal Squad toys. But there is a feeling of nostalgia when I hear cereal toys. I remember when I was a kid in the 70s, hoping for the toy in cereal boxes. I wanted to have the toy before my little brother. Of course, depending on the toy, one of us might reach into the cereal box to try and find the toy first. Reading these General Mills toys brings me back to my childhood.
According to Chew Boom, the toys will appear in Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, Lucky Charms, Trix, Honey Nut Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs and Cooke Crisp. The toys will be focused on the 90s, so they will be “retro”. Buzz the Bee, The Cinnamojis, Lucky the Leprechaun, Sonny the Cuckoo Bird, Trix the Rabbit and Chip the Wolf are the toys. Wendell the Baker will be available in a limited number of boxes. The toys will be available nationwide starting this month.
And speaking of nostalgia, if you didn’t know, General Mills has brought back all of our favorite monster cereals! According to Thrillist, Frute Brute, Count Chocula, Franken Berry and Boo-Berry are all back and on store shelves now. The company hired KAWS to design “retro cereal boxes” for the breakfast monster quartet.
When I was a kid, Monster Cereals were my favorite! Count Chocula, Fraken Berry and Boo-Berry ruled! I loved how the milk changed color depending on which one you ate. Boo-Berry is possibly my favorite cereal of all time. I think I’m going to have to buy all the monster cereals this year. Nothing wrong with reliving childhood memories.
