Jackrabbit fans enjoy first home game and new liquor sales

BROOKINGS, SD (Dakota News Now) — This is Jackrabbit’s first home football game and the fans are thrilled.

This is the first year that fans will be able to purchase alcohol inside the stadium.

This follows the decision of the board of trustees to allow the sale of alcohol at university events.

Jackrabbit Fans Say They’ve Been Waiting For This

“I think it’s been long overdue, I think it’s been a revenue stream that we’ve had to support for a while,” said Jackrabbit fans Brendan Luedtke and Chad Meirose.

Others say they’re ready to finally have a drink and watch the game.

“I came a few years ago for the playoffs and we weren’t able to do much inside the stadium, so we had to heel outside the stadium. So this year we are thrilled,” said Jackrabbit fan Roy Saenz.

College students say they are delighted to see the atmosphere

“It’s going to be crazy; it’s going to be like nothing else, that’s for sure,” said Jackrabbit fan Gary Winthrope.

And the fans were ready to buy a drink and watch a good game today.

“I think everyone is going to behave responsibly and they are going to have a good time. It’s just now that we can have a little more fun,” said Saenz.

Fans were excited to head into the game and cheer on the jackrabbits.
